Information for Independent Connection Providers
The following is a general guidance statement that has been issued to all Independent Connection Providers receiving copies of our policy documentation. Please read it carefully before accessing our policy documents.
The policy documents available through the link below are issued on the understanding that they are to be used as a guide for experienced power system design practitioners to understand the normal design parameters and standards of construction expected in respect of assets installed, connected to YEDL/NEDL distribution systems and duly energised. They are supplementary to our published G81 specifications, offering additional background information, guidance and detail on our specifications and how they should normally be applied.
As required by the NERs scheme, ICPs with connection design accreditation should have a similar comprehensive suite of policy documents of their own and so these codes of practice should be used in conjunction with your own, not as replacements or alternatives to them. Where there are discrepancies between your policies and ours, ours will take precedence.
In issuing these policy documents for your information we would point out that ICPs are required to comply with all relevant regulatory and legislative requirements and that CE Electric UK is not offering any assurance or guarantee that compliance with the contents of these policies discharges those statutory responsibilities. In particular we would draw your attention to the Electricity Act 1989, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002, and the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991.
In entering into our asset adoption agreement ICPs are also obliged to ensure that assets they have designed, installed and offered for energisation and adoption by us are fit for purpose and in accordance with the “specification of works” of which these codes of practice will form part.
Where on a specific project an ICP identifies any differences between its own guidance and our policies or any other technical issues or points of clarification, then the ICP is obliged to seek further guidance from CE Electric UK before commencing works.
By clicking on the link below to access our suite of policy documents, you are deemed to have read and agreed to comply with the above statement.
