What is the process?
What is the process?
1. Complete an application form
To start the process, you will need to complete an application form. You can download this or apply online. For more information, please call our Connections Enquiry Management Centre on 08450 702703.
2. Application form is processed
Once we have your fully completed application form and you have provided the appropriate plans, we will process your application and send you a unique reference number. For questions at this stage, contact our Connections Enquiry Management Centre on 08450 702703.
3. Design and quotation
The scheme will be designed in line with the CE Electric design manual to meet the requirements detailed in your application. If we need to confirm details with you, then your design engineer will contact you. You will get a quotation or estimate for connecting you to the network. The quotation will be valid for 30 days from the date of the quote. Your estimator will be your point of contact at this stage and contact details will be provided.
4. Acceptance
Once you've accepted and paid for the quotation, we'll prepare your project for the construction phase. Our project team will raise the necessary work instructions and issue them to our construction team for scheduling. You will receive a letter detailing next steps and your point of contact.
5. Wayleaves and legal
If your scheme involves the need to obtain consent to cross third party land or to complete a legal deed, it will be detailed in your quote letter. When we have your quote acceptance, we will raise a work request to obtain these consents. Once we have the necessary consents, we will start programming the connection. For further details on Wayleaves and consents, click here.
6. Construction
The construction team will allocate you a project manager who will be your point of contact throughout the construction phase of your scheme. They will liaise with you to programme the work and complete your connection. We use our internal work force and accredited third parties to complete the connections. It should be noted that work cannot start on site until all wayleave consents and legal deeds have been completed. The start date may also be affected by other factors such as Traffic Management and Opening Notices for excavation in the highway.
7. Connections completed
Once the infrastructure work has been completed, you may request your service connections by contacting our dedicated scheduling team. Once you have made your request, the scheduling team will arrange for the new MPAN numbers to be generated and issued to you. You will then be contacted to advise you of the week commencement date for the service connections to be completed. You will need your MPAN numbers to enable you to register your connection with your chosen electricity supplier. You will need to do this at least 28 working days prior to the connection.
