Unmetered supplies

Please note that to meet the requirements of The Electricity (Unmetered Supply) Regulations 2001, we are unable to offer an unmetered supply connection where the maximum electrical load may exceed 500 watts or where the load is not predictable and constant. If the proposed electrical load is likely to have either of these characteristics then please return to our Connections page and follow the link for new metered connections.

Public Lighting Authority Service Level Agreement

If you are a public lighting authority and would like to know more about the connection services we offer or about our Service Level Agreement (SLA), then please let us know when contacting us at the address above and we will make arrangements for a key account manager to discuss this with you.

Competition in Unmetered Connections

Some connections activity is now open to competition (click here for details) and can be provided by suitably authorised Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) instead of ourselves. In the unmetered connections market, competition is currently limited to the transfer and disconnection of existing underground service cables. As these existing unmetered connection service cables are normally permanently energised from our LV network, any ICP wishing to undertake this work must be suitably authorised, capable of undertake live LV jointing and be recognised by the Lloyds National Electricity Registration Scheme.

To facilitate access to competition in unmetered connections we have made arrangements for interested parties to participate in an unmetered connection live jointing trial.
